Yuuki and Kouryuu in Naruto..

CAUTION: LONG DESCRIPTION AHEAD

I entered this in a "Naruto Build-a-Ninja Sweepstakes" thing ([link]). It's pretty cheaply cg'd, and it looks like a marker colouring job almost (also, the background is just so hilarious because I tried so little!!). I still like it though. I even like my very very cheap water reflection effect. ^^

Here's the description I wrote for the entry (IT'S LONG!!!!) XD =>

Hair: black-indigo with silver bangs and a silver streak down the back of her head (Maybe it acts as a warning sign, like a skunk's stripe does? >.> ). She changes her hairstyle quite often.

Country: Mizu no Kuni (Water Country)--comes from one of the countryside towns.
Rank: unranked. She never went to ninja school.
Main Weapon: her dagger (the "Bloody Angel")
Head Protector: Yuuki uses it as chest armour (she realizes this is not the best piece of hardware for the area, but nonetheless…). Along with her sleeve, it seems to have a water drop symbol with a dot on the left side. These symbols don't actually come from anywhere. Yuuki made them up herself.

Favourite Phrase: "By the time you hear it, it's already too late!" <= this is her talking about the sound her dagger makes as it cuts through the air or something. ^^

Special Skills:
- Sanctuary (Saiden no Jutsu): It is unknown whether or not this is a Kekkai Genkai or is Yuuki's unique spin on the class of sealing techniques, but it involves her expending a large amount of her own chakra into her immediate vicinity. By doing this and by using her willpower, she is able to force the chakra of others back into their bodies (all chakra recede back into their original sources). All non-chakra users just feel a little bit "weird" by this technique. The advantage is that all chakra use becomes null-and-void, and her opponents will have to focus on purely using taijutsu or other physical means while within the Sanctuary field. Yuuki on the other hand (if she has enough stamina and chakra left over after this move), is able to keep using seals, genjutsu, and ninjutsu while in the Sanctuary field. Not only is this an effective disruption technique, but it can also be done to amusing effects. For instance, if someone were trying to stand upside-down on a tree or were standing on water using chakra, as soon as Yuuki's field extends to them (by her walking near them with the Sanctuary "on"), they will fall out of the tree or into the water. She generally does not need to perform hand seals to do this, but she will use them to boost her concentration. The size and duration of this field definitely depends on Yuuki's chakra levels and ability to concentrate. In general, she is able to emit a 10m radius field for 10 minutes at the cost of 25% of her max stamina.

- Frozen Sanctuary: This is an advanced form of the above technique. When Yuuki uses this technique, all movement stops within the Frozen Sanctuary field. All allies and enemies alike become immobilized save for Yuuki, who would be able to escape or attack if she likes. Another unique aspect of this technique is that it will also stop the flow of poison or any other kind of metabolisms (you can almost think of it as a time freeze). Unlike the regular Sanctuary however, the Frozen Sanctuary field is static and doesn't move with Yuuki. In general, the Frozen Sanctuary is 10m in radius, lasts for a duration of 5 minutes, and costs Yuuki 75% of her max stamina. She rarely if ever uses this technique because it strains her body greatly and requires a lot of concentration.

Other notable stuff:
- Yuuki's dagger was made by her when she was really young (around age 5) and was done by pulling fine threads of chakra from her body one by one and binding them together (I guess you can think of it as a physical/material manifestation of chakra). Because of the perhaps unusual properties of Yuuki's chakra, this dagger can not only cut through regular things like a normal dagger, but can also disrupt chakra fields (force fields, things infused with chakra, etc.).
- Yuuki is a very spry and resourceful girl. You will notice that in one of her pictures, she has kunai tied around her leg with wire. She does this to enhance a bunch of her kicking/leg taijutsu. She also able to almost instantly untie the wires while kicking someone and wind the wire around them with her leg movements. The momentum is often so fast that it is able to slice off limbs (or her favourite--heads).
- Yuuki is also able to perform seals by etching it into the ground with her feet. She usually does this during battle, looking like she is weaving around, dodging, or using fancy footwork when in fact she is building a large seal. Sometimes if she notices that the enemy has caught on, she will instead switch to just kicking dirt in their face.
- Yuuki hates doing genjutsu (especially clones) because she finds them dishonorable in some way, so she rarely does it if at all.
- Yuuki has a surprising amount of stamina for some reason, but it's not clear whether this is from her parents or due to how she was raised. She also has a rather surprising recovery rate when it comes to regaining stamina (she doesn't need much sleep), but despite this, she is also pretty lazy.

PAST:
Although Yuuki is a very capable ninja; she actually comes from a relatively average town within the Water Country. Her mother, Kagesako, came from the Kirigakure no Sato (Hidden Mist Village). Kagesako was presumed dead after the Kaguya Clan went to war on their own village. She actually lived through the ordeal, but she couldn't find any sign of Niretsu Yoruka, her lover. Kagesako couldn't bear to live this kind of life in the hidden village and used the ensuing anarchy to take off and live life anonymously as a normal Water Country citizen. Kagesako married a shrewd businessman, Lennerd, and became the much-loved step-mother of Lennerd's son, Wiry. Kagesako was later discovered by the very-alive Yoruka, now an Oinin (hunter-nin) who was on search for another missing ninja. They had a very brief moment together, but Kagesako refused to go back with Yoruka (she wanted to stay and take care of Wiry--Lennerd was not a very good husband, pretty abusive when business was not going well). Rumour has it that Yoruka left but committed suicide. Kagesako later found herself pregnant and had a daughter (that's Yuuki!).

Yuuki grew up fascinated with her mother's secret stories about ninjas and missions and assassinations. It was her escape from the reality that was living under Lennerd. Yuuki received some training from her mother until she was about 10 when her mother died from exhaustion and illness. Wiry ran away from home soon after.

Yuuki from then on often wandered into the woods to play ninja when Lennerd was not home. That was where she met Kouryuu (who kind of tried to kill her at first), but after she impressed him with her refusal to cry (despite the fact that he should have been impressed with her use of the Sanctuary technique instead), he yielded. He introduced himself with the pseudonym of "Wyvern" and a family name "Kamino" while she gave him her fantasy title "Valour" as her name. They became friends and later tried training together. This was kind of their only sanctuary compared to their often-troubled home life. The scar on Yuuki's cheek, for instance, was due to Lennerd losing his temper. She was able to develop her Sanctuary techniques as a result of trying to escape from Lennerd.

When Yuuki became 17, Lennerd was assassinated. It seems that he was in the business of selling weapons and other military supplies, and someone didn't want him delivering them to their enemy. Rumours had it that someone from the "Shino Clan" had Lennerd killed. The Shino Clan seemed to have some links to the traitorous Kaguya Clan of long ago. Yuuki swore vengeance on the Shino Clan, but in reality, this was only an excuse for her to "go ninja". Yuuki expressed her interest in vengeance to Kouryuu, but by then it was too late. Kouryuu had already destroyed the clan. He told her his real name was Shino Kouryuu. Yuuki decided that she was going to forgive the Shino Clan for their treachery "just this once" and spared Kouryuu's life in the process.

With nothing left to do, Yuuki and Kouryuu left the Water Country and they now continue to live as wandering mercenaries. Yuuki was finally living her ideal lifestyle.

Rank: Genin – might have been Jounin by now if he had stayed in his village
Main Weapon: his poll-axe (the "Shi no Fuetsu")
Head Protector: On his left shoulder slung from the right shoulder. It also is attached to a shoulder cape. The head protector is also a gold coloured alloy unlike most other head protectors (probably because he likes gold). The symbol on it is made up by him as a symbol of liberation from his family and village.

Favourite Phrase: "Do you doubt my genius?" <= I can never tell if he is being serious with that question.

Special Skills:
- Salvation (Saido no Jutsu): This seems to be a very powerful Kekkai Genkai that only Kouryuu currently possesses. If Kouryuu is able to obtain another ninja's blood and ingest it (lick it?), he will be able to use any of that ninja's abilities (including their own Kekkai Genkai !!). This is because with the genetic information within the victim's blood, Kouryuu is able to temporarily assimilate his own body to accommodate the blood (I guess the Shino Clan has very flexible DNA), and also allows him access to their skill repetoire. However, the amount of time for this possession is often not very long, and after the effects wear off, Kouryuu suffers from extreme withdrawal symptoms (nausea, heartburn, dizziness, convulsions, and sometimes even blacking out if the blood is especially different from his own). However, if Kouryuu is somehow able to fully ingest ALL of his victim's blood, the skills of the victim will become a permanent part of his repertoire. The blood must also be fresh and probably non-poison in form if Kouryuu is to use it. Brilliantly enough, Kouryuu keeps special vials and containment seals around to keep blood fresh. He seems to have develop quite the "sampler" pack over the last few years and can decide which skill of which victim he might want to use (in the picture, the blood he is using is probably not his own). During ingestion, Kouryuu has to take a moment to let his body accommodate the blood. Due to practice, these moments have becomes much shorter. He can use hand seals to quicken the process. In general, one drop of blood will let him perform one "alien" move from the victim/donor.

- Call of Salvation: This is an advanced preparatory skill for the above technique. Kouryuu is able to "will" the blood of another person to come to him. The target will often be drawn to Kouryuu's location. In some cases, Kouryuu's calling will be so powerful that blood will begin seeping out from the target's pores and orifices. He does this by throwing his chakra to the target and surrounding them with it (usually, the person has to be in sight or Kouryuu has to know the exact location). It is due to the Shino Clan's special affiliation with blood that blood seems to be attracted to them (some speculate that the Shino Clan actually can use a type of magnetism that attracts the iron content in blood). Just like a black hole, once the target reaches a certain point near Kouryuu, they can't escape (Kouryuu's "event horizon" is around 5ft from him). When the target is so close that they are disabled, Kouryuu can strike and possibly feed on them. This is a very difficult technique to pull off and leaves Kouryuu in a very vulnerable position because he has to maintain concentration and waste a lot of chakra while luring the victim.

- Blackened Seal: This is a Fuin Jutsu (Sealing Technique) that Kouryuu adapted from Yuuki’s Sanctuary techniques (he’s unsuccessful at truly emulating her Sanctuary skills, so this was his compromise). This technique involves Kouryuu concentrating a lot of chakra though his weapon of choice (usually his axe, but sometimes his hands as well) and striking the victim with it to create a wound, which will leave a black mark. The wound will then stay open and will resist any healing attempts. The only way the victim can circumvent this is to cauterize further up the wound (for instance, if Kouryuu cut a finger with a Black Seal, the victim will either bleed to death or need to chop their finger off above the cut and heal it off from there). Kouryuu claims that although he created this technique himself, he has no idea of how to lift the seal. This technique takes around 60% of Kouryuu’s stamina and requires 1-handed seals to complete (Kouryuu will usually do them under his shoulder cape).

Other notable stuff:
- Kouryuu's left eye is damaged but due to some medical techniques that he learned from a victim or two, he was able to rewire the chakra system in his body to make it be able to see again. In actuality, Kouryuu rerouted the chakra system of the "third eye" to circulate around his left eye socket. This pretty much means that his third eye is where his left eye used to be now. Although all people have third eyes (that part of us that grants us intuition), Kouryuu's third eye now is now always "on", giving him a greater chance of making predictions and general strategies. The downfall is that Kouryuu is always leaking a little bit of chakra, whether he wants to or not. Luckily, he has plenty to spare. However, it's in crucial moments when he needs to meticulously ration all the chakra he has that this becomes very problematic.
- So far, Kouryuu has not been forced to use his Kekkai Genkai very often anymore because his mere strength and other abilities (mostly gathered from his dead relatives..) seem to serve him just fine now. He is in possession of: many healing/medical techniques, a few hypnosis techniques, the ability to force-summon lesser creatures (stupid but violent monsters/creatures), and he is also rather good at water and fire jutsu.

PAST:
Kouryuu hails from the Kirigakure no Sato (Hidden Mist Village). He was a part of one of the more elite clans within the village, the Shino Clan. This clan was very traditional and its style to raising the children within the clan greatly reflected the traditional Genin exams of the Hidden Mist Village. Their Kekkai Genkai seems to be only passed through sons in the clan, so all members born of the female sex were immediately disqualified from carrying clan membership—(there were probably many acts of female infanticide in this family). As a general rule, only two sons are allowed to be born every generation. If both sons qualified after the genin exams (as in, both survived), the Shino clan further held another exam to determine the ONE male that would continue on the Shino Clan's bloodline (held when both the siblings were at least 18 years of age. The victor would drink all the blood of the loser and acquire all of the loser's possessions as well as abilities. The Shino Clan was later implicated in supporting the Kaguya Clan's uprising (supposedly supplying resources for the civil war), and rumours speculate that the Shino Clan's interest in it was purely an extension of returning the Hidden Mist Village to its roots, but no clear indicting evidence has been found that the Shino Clan did support the Kaguya Clan. However, to appease the village's suspicions, the Shino Clan had one of the "lesser sons" of the time executed. However, after the village changed the examinations due to Momochi Zabuza's killing spree, the Shino clan still continued to hold onto their tradition of having brothers duel to the death.

Kouryuu grew under the impending apprehension that he would be brutally executed by his older brother, Levin. Because Levin was older, he naturally received more training than Kouryuu did. It would have taken a miracle for Kouryuu to outmuscle or outskill his brother. When Kouryuu and Levin often sparred with each other, Levin would come out the victor. The rest of the Shino Clan already agreed that Levin was going to pass on the precious bloodline. They were only waiting it out because it was "tradition". Although Kouryuu became a Genin at age 10, he lamented his fate and kept to studying or trying to make for an escape through the woods. A few days later, Kouryuu would always be tracked down by either his own family members of members of the Oinin (hunter-nin). He soon stopped trying to escape, but still spent large amounts of his time either studying or wandering the woods.

This was how Kouryuu met up with Yuuki. He had just suffered from another humiliating defeat against Levin when he ran off to the woods to clear his mind. In a small clearing, he saw Yuuki playing ninja by herself and thought this would be a prime opportunity to take out all of his frustrations. He attacked her and tried to bring upon her the humiliation he felt while being beaten by Levin. All his fancy chakra moves were suddenly voided for some reason so he began kicking and punching at her instead, frustrated at his failure to use chakra techniques. He was surprised that Yuuki hardly made any noise or crying sounds as he wailed on her. His thirst for blood quickly dissipated and he decided instead to try out some of the first aid skills he learned to administer to himself on her. Kouryuu, not wanting to disclose his identity, told Yuuki that he was "Wyvern" of the "Kamino" family. Yuuki took it at face value and was weird enough to befriend him, for which he was grateful.

As life went on for Kouryuu, he realized that Yuuki made a pretty good training partner! She had great pointers that he could easily use (she was the one that told him to use an axe in the first place.. >_> ), unlike the unconstructive criticisms of everyone else. He grew confident that he could beat Levin. However, when Kouryuu was 17, plans seemed to have changed. The Shino Clan was trying to pull some strings behind the scenes, and it was sure to raise the village's suspicion yet again. The Shino Clan were to carry out an assassination on a weapons dealer to gain an edge over a rival clan. Surely, the Shino Clan would have been heavily implicated, but they planned to have Kouryuu take the fall and be executed to appease the rival clan. Kouryuu was furious that he wasn't even going to be allowed a fair fight before his death. Before the news of the execution made it to the ears of the rival clan, Kouryuu snapped and went on a killing spree of his own, executing Levin while he was sleeping. After drinking all of Levin's blood, Kouryuu hunted down the rest of his clan members one by one. He was able to hold off the withdrawal effects by taking in all the blood at once. His left eye was scarred and damaged within the ensuing fights, but he was able to ironically survive through Levin's medical skills. He then set fire to the Shino property and fled the village. He blacked out near the clearing where he usually would meet up with Yuuki.

When Kouryuu came to, Yuuki was there explaining to him how she was going to wreck vengeance upon the evil Shinos that "Wyvern" had told her so much about. Kouryuu stopped her plans short by explaining to her what he just did, that he was the only Shino left, and that if she wanted vengeance, he would let her kill him right then and there. Yuuki decided that killing Kouryuu would not be such a good idea after all, because he was really the only one she had left.. and besides, it would have been kind of mean to kill a friend.

Kouryuu and Yuuki then decided they had to leave the Water Country in case either of them had a price on their heads after what happened. Kouryuu enjoys Yuuki's company, but he's really not used to such an unflattering lifestyle.


YUUKI + KOURYUU AS A PAIR

Yuuki and Kouryuu have never officially claimed that they are a couple, but there is a general consensus that they "belong" to each other. Yuuki is the one that usually keeps Kouryuu in check when it comes to things like killing babies or attacking unarmed targets. This is because Yuuki believes in some sort of "honourable warrior" system. Kouryuu on the other hand, sees her as a hypocrite because she especially enjoys going on assassination missions where the point is to kill the person when he/she least suspects it (and is often unarmed). Their conversation would go something like this:

Kouryuu: Hypocrite.
Yuuki: What?
Kouryuu: You heard me.
Yuuki: It's not my fault!
Kouryuu: Seeing as you're the one doing the killing, it's hard for me to see it as anything BUT your fault.
Yuuki: Well, I can't help it if you can't see it.
Kouryuu: ... *frustration rising*
Yuuki: You know what's REALLY hypocritical though...
Kouryuu: ..What..?
Yuuki: Drinking blood when you're a vegan.
Kouryuu:--! For the thousandth time, I'm not vegan for moral purposes! I'm vegan because if I consume too many blood products, I suffer from withdrawal!
Yuuki: Well I'm just saying it would be tons easier if we could just settle for hamburger or something once in a while!
Kouryuu: Even if I weren't vegan, I wouldn't touch that garbage. = =
Yuuki: Oh, poor little rich boy can't take it if his food is sub-par~~~
Kouryuu: I can't help it if I have a sophisticated palate.
Yuuki: See? Just like I can't help but assassinate people! Finally we see eye to eye! *pats his shoulder and goes off*
Kouryuu: WHAT.

They have good chemistry. XD

Yuuki also often calls Kouryuu by his nickname "Wyvern" or the diminutive "Wyvie", while Kouryuu pretty much exclusively calls Yuuki by her actual name (he only calls her "Valour" for sarcastic purposes). They haven't said anything to each other about getting married or anything yet, but Kouryuu has expressed on numerous times that he never wants children (due to both of their troubled childhoods and the fact that he wouldn't want to raise a kid like either of them).

Also, Yuuki and Kouryuu tend to stay out of very politically charged situations and also tend to understate their skills for fear of being traced back to the Water Country and the Hidden Mist Village. So far, they have managed to stay out of the many sticky situations that have cropped up, but the future might be uncertain in that area if the Akatsuki or Orochimaru or any other political group finds that either of their skills would be useful to their purposes.

I could go on about their relationship and how well they fight together and stuff, but I think I can leave the rest to your imaginations given that all I've detailed was pretty LONG and descriptive... right? *cough*
